Until recently, American Airlines soared above its rival carriers to make away with the crown of most hated US airline on social media. But we’ve discovered that the bankrupt carrier no longer reigns supreme on social media.
US Airways was the most hated US airline on social media in 2011. Only 8% of social media opinions on US Airways in 2011 were positive, which is even worse than its poor little rival American Airlines, which crawled to the end of 2011 with 14% of opinions expressing something like love for the airline.
The most common causes of complaint against US Airways were the same as those against American Airlines: poor flights and delays, delays, delays.
Complaints against airlines were common throughout 2011. As a result, 55% of opinions on US airlines were negative in 2011, with only a few carriers bucking the trend. Among them, Virgin America, which was the most loved airline on social media in 2011, with an incredible 96% of opinions expressing love for the Branson airline over the year.
